Michael Krause founded Counterpoint Asset Management in 2012 to offer quantitative investment strategies to investment clients. In 2014, Mr. Krause also co-founded Counterpoint Mutual Funds and is a portfolio manager to its mutual funds. Mr. Krause served as a financial risk analyst at Sempra Energy in 2011 and as a senior financial risk analyst San Diego Gas & Electric from 2012 until 2014. At San Diego Gas & Electric, Mr. Krause was a part of a risk management group that oversaw approximately $300 million dollars in risk exposure in Sempra Utilities’ power, natural gas, and fleet energy hedging portfolios.
Mr. Krause obtained an MBA from the Rady School of Management at the University of California at San Diego and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from San Diego State University. Mr. Krause is a CFA® charterholder. Prior to attending San Diego State University, Mr. Krause worked as a computer and information technology consultant and co-founded Exchange Network Services, Inc., an internet service provider, which earned him the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Northeast Ohio regional award in 1998.
